Check Out Oregon Battle of the Books Author, Steve Sheinkin on May 11th.
When author Steve Sheinkin (a former textbook writer) describes his newer books, he says, "I’m really trying to make amends for all those textbooks, and I feel like the only way to do that is to prove that history is actually cool." Sheinkin is the author of the Newbery Honor book, Bomb! The race to build -- and steal -- the world’s most dangerous weapon, the National Book Award Finalist book, Port Chicago 50: disaster, mutiny and the fight for civil rights, and many other critically acclaimed nonfiction books. Sheinkin will talk about his work at a free event on Monday, May 11 at 7 p.m. at the Moriarty Arts and Humanities Building on the Portland Community College, Cascade campus. Students and adults are encouraged to attend. The Teen Author Lecture is made possible by gifts to The Library Foundation.
